COMPANY HISTORY
In 1965, Gene Holle, founding father, left his childhood home in
Nebraska to begin a new, prosperous life in California. With a family to support and a Midwest farm
ethic he immediately excelled from a laborer to an equipment
operator with a small swimming pool excavation company.
Within a couple of years, Gene saved enough for a down payment on
a used dump truck, crawler, tractor and trailer, Holle excavating was born. The work
involved long hours, 7 day work
weeks and constant maintenance on the equipment.
Before
long, Holle Excavating had grown into a sizeable swimming pool
excavation company with multiple crews. It was in 1979, when the swimming pool
market began to decline, Gene decided to diversify into General Contracting.
Public Works projects soon became the primary workload for Holle Excavating. In 1981, Gene's son Mitch joined the company as a laborer. Once Gene was sure the the "Traditional Farm Ethic" was instilled in his son, he decided to create MICON - MItch's CONtracting. The new company quickly prospered in the park building sector of public works contracting. New team members joined to create a mid-size corporation.
